Confluence of the Maumee and AuGlaize Rivers
Spend an afternoon enjoying the natural and historical attractions at the confluence. Walk along the scenic river bank and over the fort grounds, taking time to read the monuments that mark history of General Anthony Wayne, Fort Defiance, Fort Winchester and the Indians that inhabited the land before us. All three banks of the confluence provide activity. Pontiac Park to the North includes the historic French Apple tree and a boat launch, Kingsbury Park to the east holds little league ball parks, the community swimming pool and a shady playground. While visiting be sure to stop in and check out our beautiful Carnegie Library nestled within the banks of this historic area.
AuGlaize Village

Along with its 41 new, restored and reconstructed buildings, the village houses several museums. Each year the museum is open on special event days where authentically costumed craftsman demonstrate a wide variety of pioneer skills Points of interest include the military museum, antique farm machinery displays and a train museum.

Maumee State Forest and Mary Jane Thurston State Park
Two distinct outdoor destinations for those looking to "get back to nature". Henry County is blessed to have two distinct natural areas. Maumee State Forest is part of the larger Oak Openings Region that The Nature Conservancy has named one of "America's Last Great Places". The forest hosts many rare plant and animal species and rare habitats left over after the Ice Age. Mary Jane Thurston takes advantage of the Maumee River that winds through Henry County. Mary Jane Thurston offers camping, boating, fishing and hunting, trails, educational programs and facilities for day-use or overnight.
